CERTIFIED. PROACTIVE. RUGGED DESIGN.

The Mobile Wireless Module – Cellular (MWM-C) provides wireless cellular connectivity to provide access to Gatekeeper Systems Cell View System. Cell View allows end users to view live video from a vehicle that is out on route. Additionally, Cell View provides the GPS location as well as the status of various connected sensors (right turn, left turn, brake etc).
The MWM-C automatically resolves common problems associated with wireless cellular connectivity. Built in software and hardware watchdogs continuously by monitoring each component in the MWM and the product’s connectivity. In the event an issue is detected, the product proactively takes steps to re-establish connectivity.
Gatekeeper’s MWM-C has obtained the following certifications: FCC and PTCRB. The MWM is certified by the following carriers to operate on their cellular network:
• Verizon
• Sprint
• AT&T
• T-Mobile
• Telus, Bell & Rogers
While certification may seem mundane, many wireless devices do not carry the necessary certifications. These devices run the risk of being “kicked off” a cellular network and the users subject to fines. Gatekeeper will be pleased to provide copies of the certifications up on request.
The MWM-C comes complete with a 3dbi through hole antenna (with a 15’ antenna cable) and the necessary cables (power and Cat 5) to connect to a Gatekeeper G4 DVR.
The MWM cellular radio will provide up to 3G cellular technology connectivity.

IMPROVE OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCIES – SAVE TIME AND VALUABLE RESOURCES

Take advantage of wireless extraction to retrieve onboard video as soon as vehicle enters the vehicle yard’s Wi-Fi system or view video from inside the vehicle using Cell View™ while the vehicle is out on route.
The secure download is fast and efficient, providing you with the video you need.
Gatekeeper is offering the choice of either:
• Cellular only solution
• Wi-Fi only solution
• Cellular and Wi-Fi solution.
Gatekeeper’s yard based Wi-Fi system provides the bandwidth required to quickly download video. While it is technically possible to download video over a cellular connection, it is highly recommended that video be downloaded over a Wi-Fi connection. Wi-Fi typically provides significantly faster data speeds (typically 15 to 20 Mbps) compared to a 3G cellular connection inbound from vehicle to cell tower at 30kbps. Wi-Fi is over 50 times the bandwidth that cellular technology provides.
Wi-Fi EQUIPMENT
Utilizing Wi-Fi 802.11n at 5GHz Gatekeeper offers a rugged industrially rated Access Point (AP) and a rugged Wi-Fi radio for the vehicle. The Access Point comes with 2 panel antennas that provide 10 dbi of gain each. Typically the Access Point and antennas are mounted on a mast secured to the exterior of a building. Power and network connection must be available close to the AP.
The vehicle Wi-Fi radio includes a through-hole antenna and cable. The antenna is approximately 2.5 inches tall and is rugged to withstand vehicle washes. The vehicle antenna provides 3dbi of gain. Mounting the antenna on the roof of a vehicle will achieve excellent RF performance. The through-hole antenna provides superior performance over a stubby antenna located on the Wi-Fi equipment within the vehicle or using a window stick on antennas. Throughput is dependent on signal strength, a well-designed Wifi infrastructure and strategically mounted antennas are critical to achieving fast download speeds.
CELL VIEW™
Cell View™ (Gatekeepers Cellular System) excels at viewing video from inside the vehicle while the vehicle is out on route. Typically with a four camera DVR system, a user can expect to see approximately 5 frames a second from all cameras simultaneously. In addition to seeing live video, the geographic position of the bus is also displayed (in real time) on Google Maps.
All of Gatekeeper’s DVR’s support dual streaming. This allows for high quality, D1 resolution and full frame rate (up to 30 fps) video to be recorded to the hard drive while simultaneously streaming a lower frame rate, and lower resolution image over the cellular network.
CELLULAR EQUIPMENT
The cellular radio (Cloud Gate) has been specifically designed for M2M (Machine to Machine) use. This means that after the cellular radio is configured, no operator input is required. Like the Wi-Fi solution, a 3 dbi gain through hole antenna (with cable) is provided with the cellular radio and provides excellent RF performance. As with a Wi-Fi system, good signal strength is required to achieving fast data speeds. The Gatekeeper 3 dbi cellular antenna ensures that data speeds can be maximized.
Gatekeeper’s cellular solution supports the following cellular specification:
This means the cellular radio is certified to operate on Sprint, Verizon, AT&T and T Mobile.
It is important to note that Gatekeepers cellular solution has all the required approvals to operate on the above mentioned carrier networks. If the reader is considering a cellular solution from another vendor, it is highly recommended that the other vendor provide copies of the certification documents. Operating a device without the required certifications places the end user at risk to fines, denied access to the cellular network, and/or being kicked off the cellular network.
If the reader is considering a cellular solution from another vendor, it is highly recommended that the other vendor provide copies of the certification documentation.
