We are pleased they have expanded to our stop arm camera technology to deter stop arm violations and provide a safer environment outside the buses while students enter and exit”. Dyment added, “The number of projects in our sales funnel related to stop arm camera technology is growing significantly. It has been a tough winter across the country which has delayed projects in many areas due to extreme weather conditions. The Company is close to landing several of these projects that will utilize Gatekeeper’s Auto Ticketing Software, which we believe offers significant value for our shareholders while providing school districts and counties with valuable technology. There is a projected 15 million stop arm violations that will occur throughout the United States in 2014.” As of January 22 nd , 2014 twenty-six States across the United States, as well as some Provinces in Canada, have enacted law, or legislation has been introduced or is pending, that allows authorities to use data from a school bus video system to issue a ticket for stop arm violations.
A recent news report by ABC Chicago exposed many stop arm violators during regular bus routes which are potentially putting children’s lives at risk. In January, 2014, new legislation was passed in Illinois, USA which allows for ticketing of motorists through the use of video from a school bus video system as evidence. Gatekeeper recently signed an agreement with Cook Illinois Corporation which allows Gatekeeper to install its high speed license plate reading system on their buses. Cook Illinois Corporation has a fleet of approximately 2,000 school buses, and the first phase of installation has been completed. Gatekeeper is now in the process of working with Counties and School Districts to offer its Partnering Services Program.
