Gatekeeper Launches New High Definition Body Worn Recorder and Camera for Law Enforcement Market

Abbotsford, BC March 11th, 2014 – Gatekeeper Systems Inc. (TSX.V: GSI) is pleased to announce the launch of its high definition body worn recorder and camera for the law enforcement market.

The high definition wearable device (“PR-104”) is a personal high definition recorder and camera designed specifically for police work, which is activated by the officer with a single push of a button. Built rugged, the PR-104 will record high definition video (1080p or 720p) in stunning clarity, both day and night. The device also has integrated Infrared LED’s that allow the PR-104 to see and record images in total darkness.

The PR-104 is rated IP67, meaning that the device is completely dust tight and can be submerged in 3 feet of water without any harmful effects. A fully charged battery will allow for 24 hours of standby time with a record time of 8 hours. In addition, it survives drops from up to 9.8 feet (3 meters).

The PR-104 has a 160° video capture angle. Most human’s eyes can see scenes up to a 100° angle. This super wide angle is achieved without any noticeable distortion in the image. The 160° capture angle allows for catching the entire scene even when the officer is operating in very close confines.

On the rear is a 2-inch (measured diagonally) LED display, which allows the officer to review video immediately. In normal operation the LED screen is off to extend battery life. The PR-104 can be configured to display the devices unique serial number, officer ID, day, hour, minute and seconds. This provides a positive record of which device captured the video and at what time. When officers return from duty they will place the PR-104 personal video recorder in a Data Management Terminal (“DMT-16”). The DMT-16 is a freestanding terminal that allows up to 16 PR-104’s to be charged and have the audio and video data downloaded automatically. Once the video/audio data has been downloaded, the DMT-16 can be configured to automatically erase the memory of the PR-104 so that it is ready to go for the next shift. The DMT-16 generates usage statistic automatically and has the ability to be configured to upload data to a central server.

Once the data from a PR-104 has been transferred to the DMT-16 the video is then uploaded to a centralized server running Document Management Software (“DMS”). DMS can either be run locally on city servers or it can be provided as a hosted solution.
