Overpowering diesel engines, constant road noise and poor
acoustics can create an extremely difficult environment for recording consistently
clear audio within a school bus. Recognizing a significant need for improved audio
performance industry wide, Gatekeeper Systems Inc. has recently developed a solution
that will set a new standard for clarity, consistency and overall performance
for audio recording.
When used in conjunction with The Gatekeeper™ system
the SmartMic™ is guaranteed to enhance the quality of audio recording; The
Gatekeeper™ system also includes standard product features such as the VRS™
- Voltage Regulating System and Optex™ - Dome Camera.
The SmartMic™ enclosure has been designed to utilize
the same high-impact structural Lexan that is used with the Optex™ dome camera
technology for uniformity and added vandal resistance. Each SmartMic™ also
utilizes a molded harness assembly for user friendly plug and play integration
with virtually all school bus video monitoring systems, including The Gatekeeper™
solution, thus allowing the microphone to be installed during initial implementation
or added to any existing installation.
The SmartMic™ technology provides three unique advantages
which work in unison to provide consistently clear audio. The remote aspect of
the SmartMic™ allows distance between the rumble of the bus engine and the
microphone; this feature also allows the microphone to be mounted in close proximity
to the center or rear of the bus in order to record a wider range of voices. The
SmartMic™ utilizes advanced filtering technology to eliminate the possibility
of recording the sound frequencies often consistent with bus engine and road noise;
the advanced filtering allows for a more consistent and reliable audio recording
of voices on the bus. The SmartMic™ also has the ability to adapt to various
sound environments and adjust the audio level to provide added reliability and
clarity to your audio recording; the SmartMic™ will automatically adjust
in order to level out dominating voices and amplify the quiet ones.
Installation of the SmartMic™ is made easy due to the
plug and play design of the microphone and harness assembly. The SmartMic™
may also be installed using a conduit for added vandal resistance and/or accelerated
installation.
