WARNING
Before performing an upgrade, first backup any important videos in video and clip
folders, and configuration files in config. When upgrading software on a PC, the
new version should cleanly remove existing versions. However, uninstalling earlier
versions manually using Add/Remove Programs may be preferred.
|

|
To ensure
a successful download and subsequent upgrade of
|
|
other
GSX-900 units simply follow the instructions below.

You will need:
|
| |
COMRAD Unit from a GSX-900
USB Cable
3 Amp COMRAD Power Supply
Computer with Internet Connection
|
|
|
Part I: Downloading GK
Viewer
|
|
Power
up the COMRAD™ by plugging in the 3 Amp power supply to the DC jack on the back.
Refer to Figure 1.
|
|
|
Connect
the USB cable to the back of the COMRAD™ and then plug the other end into the
USB port on your computer. Refer to Figure 1.
|
|
If the
viewer opens automatically, please close it.
|
|
Click
on the Viewer Setup File and save it as setup.exe to the COMRAD™, overwriting
the existing setup.exe file. The COMRAD™ drive usually shows up as removable drive,
E:\. Refer to Figure 2.
|
|
|
When the
download is complete, click on setup.exe which was saved to the COMRAD™ drive.
This will install a new Viewer. Note: The installation will ask you to uninstall
VobSub. Go to Control Panel >> Add/Remove Programs>> Vobsub v2.23
(Remove only) and uninstall. When the installation is complete, GK Viewer will
open.

Part II: Downloading
the Software using Check for Updates
|

From the Viewer, click on
File >> Check for Updates. Refer to Figure
3.
|
|
|
A new window called Update
Viewer Software will pop up with three packages to download, click OK. Refer to
Figure 4.
The software
will start to download and will copy the files to the attached COMRAD™. Refer
to Figure 3.

Part III: Upgrading the
Fleet of GSX-900 units
|
|
You
will need:
|
|
|
COMRAD (Upgraded in Previous Step)
USB Cable
DC to DC Cable
Access to all GSX-900 Units Installed in Each Bus
|

|
|
|
The COMRAD™
that was just updated can be used to upgrade all existing GSX-900 units.
|
|
In the bus, power up the
GSX-900 and wait until it goes into Record mode.
|
|
|
Power up the upgraded COMRAD™
with either the DC to DC cable or the COMRAD™ power supply.
|
|
DC to DC Cable:
|
Plug in one end of the DC
to DC cable to the DC jack on the front of the GSX-900 and the other end into
the DC Jack on the back of the COMRAD™. Refer to Figure
5.
|
|
COMRAD™ Power Supply:
|
Plug in to the DC Jack
on the back of the COMRAD™. You may need an extension cord to plug in the power
supply to a wall outlet. Refer to Figure 5.
|
|
When the COMRAD™ is powered
up, connect the USB cable to the USB port on the back of the COMRAD™. Connect
the other end into the USB port on the front of the GSX-900. Refer to Figure
5.
|
|
When a connection is made,
you will hear three audible beeps.
|
|
Copying Upgrades" will
appear momentarily on the LCD screen, when finished unplug the external COMRAD™
and reboot the GSX-900 unit by manually shutting down and let it restart. Refer
to Figure 6.
|
|
|
When the GSX-900 power
up, the current software version will be displayed on the LCD screen for approximately
one minute while the software installs on the unit. Once the unit goes into record
mode, you may shut down. The next time the GSX-900 reboots it will display the
updated software version.
