The NiTRO™ 401 is a solid state digital video recorder utilizing H.264 video compression, the same video compression technique as used in Blue-Ray disk players.

In place of a spinning hard-disk drive, the NiTRO™ 401 records to a removable SD memory card. Utilizing surface mount components the NiTRO™ 401 is built to withstand the shock and vibration of the school bus operation.
